Rise, Fall & Rise Again

Writer's picture: Chelsea LoveChelsea Love

On January 3rd, I posted this note on Facebook:

“2020 is the Year that I’ve been waiting on!!

May Justice & Healing Break Out! #ItsTime #Answered Prayer”

Crazy Right?! In many ways, this post is spot on. While in many other ways, this post is completely contrary to what I thought those words actually meant. Can’t you hear the energetic expression and excitement in my words? I was beaming from ear to ear as I typed the post. And like many of you, we started the year out full of hope and anticipation for what the new decade could bring. But, then, we watched it virtually crumble apart just as fast.

Here is what happened to me.

In December 2019, I began a dream job as an Associate Producer for a global events company in Chandler, AZ. At the end of the year, we signed a contract that would secure my role in producing shows in Europe, Asia and the Middle East over the next 12-16 months. I have always wanted to travel the world doing work that I love, so this opportunity was rare, amazing, and a dream come true.

By February 2020, I had travelled to Miami, Las Vegas and was wrapping a show in Houston, TX. I was growing in my field and had been working for weeks on my first international show in Rome, Italy. But, just two (2) days before my departing flight, the Coronavirus spiked in Italy, cancelling my trip. Not only that, all in-person events for the foreseeable future were cancelled indefinitely. I was furloughed in June and then let go in July. Initially, I felt devastated and blind sighted. It literally took me months to shake that type of loss off. I began to understand and remind myself that life is not always about what happens to us as much as it is about how we respond to what has happened.

What has happened to you? And how have you responded to what has happened?

We have gone through a lot this year but, it’s not over yet. It’s time to rise again. No matter how you responded to it, whether good or bad – Kudos to you because you made it through!

Now, it’s time to Dust yourself off, regroup, refocus and give it another go – Whatever “IT” may be! Can you sense the change in the air? Or simply feel the coolness of the wind?

A new season has begun.

There is so much dissent all around us, even in the church. So many contrasting opinions on social media and television, even from trusted sources. So much pressure all around. Who do we vote for? Should we vote at all? Who do we turn to? Who is telling the truth? What is the right decision? What’s the wrong decision?

I choose instead to enjoy the peace that comes by simply going outside and taking a deep breath in. Let your chest rise full of air, then let it fall slowly, and repeat.

Breathe Deep My Friends.

Just as summer transitions to fall and winter, there is a set timing for all things under the sun.

Trouble won’t last always.

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18

WHAT’S NEW

Next Weekend, I am hosting a pre-launch party for my new business, The Counter Life Movement (CLM) in Phoenix, AZ! CLM is a community bridge that reconnects people and inspires healthy relationships through multimedia, literature and events.

CLM reintroduces Kingdom Living by protesting prevailing cultural practices and social norms in a simplistic fresh way.

WHAT’S GOT TO GROW? WHAT’S GOT TO GO?

What’s Got to Grow: I recently volunteered at a homeless shelter distributing food to families in need. It was hard work, but the reward was immeasurable. I hadn’t volunteered in this capacity at all his year. This is something that I need to make more time to do. I expected to give but received so much more in return.

What’s Got to Go: #Solongbyebye Laziness. New seasons require renewed focus and a dedication to excellence. There is no place for laziness when you are Bloomin & Prunin!
