When Delays & Setbacks Are A Blessing

Updated: Jul 31, 2021

If you’ve been following along with the blog, you’d expect this issue to begin with a cover photo of my hubby and me holding a giant “SOLD” sign in front of our new home with grins so wide that you could count each tooth! At the start of our contract, the builder explained that he could build our house from the ground floor in four (4) months. We were amazed, hopeful and assured! Well, it is now eight months later and that reality has not yet been realized. The closing date was pushed back again. Our builder began experiencing challenges acquiring materials and maintaining oversight of workers who, I assume, enjoyed the holiday season more than they enjoyed building our house on schedule. Although the news came with disappointment, frustration and anxiety – my husband looked at me calmly and said “Babe, remember we signed the contract that says the builder has up to 2 years to finish the home. ” I think to myself “why did we sign that? It better NOT take that long!” LOL In the same way, as believers, we signed a contract with God - Didn’t we? Although God is capable of performing instantaneous miracles, He does not always choose to deliver us quickly. His ways, plans and thoughts are quite different than ours. However, there is a set time for our deliverance. All of the days leading up to its arrival are deliberate, purposeful, and even the catalyst to sustain us once we enter into our promised place. Though it may take longer than expected, our time will surely come. Have you ever been enthusiastically waiting for something to happen and then it is delayed or cancelled? How did you respond? What did you learn while you waited?

Encouraging Scriptures Regarding Time If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this? ~Esther 4:14 For He says, “In a favorable time, I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” ~2 Corinthians 6:2 “Though it tarry, it will surely come” ~Habakkuk 2 What's Got to Grow? #Patience. Run your race, not in comparison to anyone else, but allow the time and obstacles to perfect your patience and peace. Know that He who promised is faithful. What's Got to Go? #Pride. Pride comes before a fall - I don't want to fall anymore! It's time to surrender and rise!
